A few years ago, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I was a sophomore in college pursuing a career in medicine. I’ve always dreamt of having a dog, but never thought it was possible with the demands of medical school. I was given less than 24 hours to decide whether or not I wanted Arlo, and I couldn’t say “no”. Not only has he healed me emotionally, but he has also helped me through my disease in ways you couldn’t imagine. We’re attached at the hip and I refuse to go anywhere without him.
I’m a 22 year old, extremely athletic girl so from an outside perspective you would never know I was suffering from a chronic debilitating disease – so having him kind of gives me an outlet to just be myself and enjoy/cherish what I have and what I have accomplished. We’re moving to NOLA in a few weeks for me to start med school and I couldn’t be more excited to have my best pal along with me for the ride!!!"
