A Marine Corps Veteran & His Family Share the Meaning of Veterans Day

Thank you to all of the brave men and women for their service to our country. And, thank you to their loved ones and best furiends who helped and supported them along the way.

From multiple moves to having to say “goodbye” to their loved ones for long deployments, military families sacrifice so much. Puppy mama and inspirational lifestyle blogger Hannah Cagas and her husband Chi share what Veterans Day means to both of them and the impact that their dogs Ollie and Alfie have had on their lives:

Puppy Mama: What does Veterans Day mean to you?
Hannah: “Veterans Day is a day we remember and honor the heroic men and women who have served and who currently serve our country. The sacrifices our military members and their families make, deserve so much recognition and I will forever be indebted to their acts of service for our country.

Chi: “Today is a day of reflection. On this day, I think about my fellow marines, those who I had the opportunity to serve with. I think back to all that the Marines taught and provided me—those hard lessons and rough stretches that helped me grow, and peers and leaders who helped me become the person I am today. Serving in the military was such a blessing for me and one that I will forever be grateful for. The bond that military members have is something that should be cherished and celebrated. Happy Veterans Day!”

Puppy Mama: How have your dogs helped your family?
“Our dogs have always been a constant source of companionship and as a military spouse, we do have to go through periods where we are alone. Not only are our spouses away for weeks at a time, but we are also so often at duty stations far from home: friends and family. Both Ollie and Alfie have provided me with so much comfort and endless love. Nothing beats cuddles from two of the very best pups!"
